I absolutely loved my stay at HI Martha's Vineyard! It was my first time visiting MV and I actually picked it because there's a Hostelling International there and I knew I could depend on the quality of the accommodations. Everything was super clean and my bed was comfy. The hostel is well located. I went for my birthday and fell in love with the island! I plan on returning and staying at HI for many years to come.

I recall getting two types of surveys for this visit. Our other review was extensive and extremely pleased with our visit. Unfortunately, it also contained names of very helpful people -- and I can't recall those names all these months later. My husband had only experienced one hostel visit years earlier and it wasn't a good one. This MV visit really changed his mind. MANY THANKS! You have a wonderful hostel and staff on Martha's Vineyard.

Our experience was tainted by Lea (sp?) at the front desk. Four of us had been out riding our motor scooters all day. It took from 4-8 PM running the two dryers and they made noise in the kitchen. In our defense, we had an 11 hour ride home on Monday. Lea complained a few times about the noise. This was the last day before closing. We can understand it had been quiet there. But it doesn't excuse some compassion for your fellow (drenched) travelers, especially when you are the host.

Lovely hostel in a fantastic location, excellent for socialising due to the facilities arrangement (open plan kitchen with seating all around, comfortable sofas in the lounge and pleasant outside seating). Good connections for those relying on public transport ... and a special mention for the whole wheat pancakes !

As a life member of the Scottish YHA, I am perhaps qualified to compare and contrast the various YHA organisations world wide that I have stayed in. All the hostels I have stayed at in the USA have been of an exceptional standard. Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket had the extra joy of their tremendous buildings and locations. On behalf of my wife and I, many many thanks for making our latest stay in your fine country so very enjoyable. Ian Curphey, life member, Scottish Youth Hostels Association.
