The Heritage House hostel is located in downtown Halifax, just 200m from the bus and train stations, so getting here is easy! Halifax, founded in 1749, to establish British strength in North America has much history and culture, including a cool, summer Jazz Festival, a funky Busker's Festival, the International Tattoo, and the Titanic Graveyard.
The 160-year-old heritage building is clean and safe and exudes a great vibe. Our private/family rooms, dorm rooms all include linen in the cost. There are coin operated internet kiosks and free Wi-Fi as well as laundry for your convenience.
In summer time we host a great Wednesday Pub Crawl, a Friday BBQ, and pancake breakfasts three times a week. The hostel is close to the city's best music, pubs, and Harbour Front and some of the best seafood you'll enjoy in Canada.
What travellers think
The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms were fine. However, when I booked, I thought there was parking available, but there are only three spots, all of which were full by the time I arrived. The room was quite noisy---it faces the road and there was major road construction going on. In the morning, the women's bathroom on my floor was closed for cleaning---why not clean it midday, when bathroom traffic is low? I had to go up three flights of stairs to use a mixed sexes bathroom.

The front desk staff was very impolite, indifferent and even unhelpful - especially the girl with dark curly hair (e.g. refused to organize a room switch, even though there were enough beds available - checking with a different staff member the next day revealed it was no problem at all). The blond haired guy was also very indifferent, but the girl with blond curly hair was friendly. She didn't know too much about the city though (e.g. didn't know shops were closed on Sundays).
