The only reason I only gave a fair rating for comfort is because it was very hot and stuffy in the ladies' dorm. There is no air circulation like there is in the common room thanks to the ceiling fan and windows that can open on more than one wall. If there were a fan like that and if there were windows on the front of the building then I think the ladies room would be much less stuffy, which would make it much more pleasant even if it was just as hot. A fan made a big difference the last night.

Considering it is a 'wilderness' hostel, it is quite comfortable. Unfortunately, the one thing that bugged me was the lack of lighting for path to toilets and bungalows. Ran into a few trees and a boulder more than once - TAKE A TORCH coz the solar lights do nothing! I loved the fact of no TV or internet - we had no choice but to play cards or board games and the youngies thoroughly enjoyed themselves with no distractions! :-)

Budget meal tip

Patricia's Deli on Patricia Street nestled between the motorcycle shop and Pharmasave just behind the staircase. Best sandwich I ever had! And I never would have found it without the suggestion of one of the HI Hostel staff!

Where next?

Rafting! You get a deal if you book at the Hostel, there are several levels to choose from ranging from a sedate float down a river to level 3 rapids! My daughter had so much fun she can't wait to go again!
