Standing in its own spacious grounds, YHA York provides the perfect base for exploring the beautiful historic City of York, with its world class attractions, shops, restaurants and medieval streets, all clustered together within the city walls and below the imposing York Minster.

Premium rooms, great food and comfortable bar makes for a perfect city base. Rooms have 1-6 beds and facilities include restaurant, bar, self-catering kitchen, laundry, Internet access/Wi-Fi, TV lounge, games room, and wheelchair facilities.

York is soaked in history. The Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans have all left their mark. Stay in this attractive Victorian hostel and beat the traffic by strolling into the centre along the River Ouse. Visit the Minster, the National Railway Museum or the Jorvik Viking Centre.

YHA York is a wonderful place to stay. As a woman traveling alone, I was very pleased with the security of the hostel in general, and of the female dorms specifically. The entire hostel was clean and comfortable, the staff was very fun and helpful, and the luggage lockers are a huge help to anyone who doesn't want to worry about their things while out site seeing. I would recommend this hostel to anyone and would certainly stay here again.

Budget meal tip

There's a little cake shop near the hostel that will sell you a bag of scones at the end of the day for only a pound; a great budget dinner or breakfast!
