The River Soča, with its pure and pristine green-blue colour, is the jewel of Slovenia. It is hailed as one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe. Its spring can be found in Trenta, at the base of the majestic Julian Alps in Triglav National Park. It then cuts a path through some of the most stunning valleys and history-filled villages in Slovenia, such as Bovec, Kobarid and Tolmin. We recommend a visit in the summer months as the river offers a welcome reprieve from the heat and the whole valley is teaming with fun and adrenaline-filled sporting activities such as biking, kayaking, rafting and paragliding. It is also a valley of history as the famous Battles of Isonzo from the World War I happened here. A trip down the Walk of Peace offers visitors an active rest and a real taste of Slovenian culture due to famous battle sites and museums along the trail.
