Hostelling International Tripbook for

Stuttgart

9 Entries

Home to fashion designers and car manufacturers, Stuttgart, Germany, is the fast-paced capital city of Baden-Württemberg. Even if you’re not into cars, the Porsche and Mercedes museums are both worth a visit. See the first ever Mercedes and find out how world history has shaped the evolution of these vehicles. Schlossplatz, meaning ‘palace square’, is home to a number of festivals and open-air concerts throughout the year, but if you’re not there in time for any of these, there are street performers lining the Schlossplatz throughout the year and you can always admire the scenery which includes the Baroque-style New Castle. Visit the ‘city within a city’, Esslingen – the city escaped damage from the WWII bombing raids and as a result has a perfectly preserved collection of medieval buildings. Before calling it a night at your hostel, head to Theodor-Heuss-Straße: the most popular spot for bars and nightclubs in Stuttgart.
