São Paulo, Brazil, is often overshadowed as a hostel destination by the likes of Rio de Janeiro, but although this South American hive of industry is mostly frequented by people on business, it also boats some of the world’s best nightlife, lots of museums and galleries, and a vivacious fashion scene. This gigantic metropolis is home to around 20 million people and although, at first glance, it may seem to be an ugly, concrete jungle, you'll discover some hidden gems if you look closer. These include Praça da Sé, a public square in the heart of the city which is shaded by tropical trees and overlooked by the Catedral Metropolitana. Or the São Paulo Museum of Art, which holds some of the best art in Latin America. Then there's Sala São Paulo, the grandiose home of the São Paulo State Symphonic Orchestra, and Parque da Cantareira, a parkland covered in Atlantic rainforest.
