On the east side of Canada you’ll find the French-speaking province of Québec. A dazzling combination of gleaming new architecture and archaic French buildings, this is a province that’s proud of its heritage. We have hostels in every major city so you can visit some of Quebec’s 400 museums or explore some of its naturally dramatic landscapes alongside skiing, hiking, or canoeing. ‘Québecans’, as they like to be called, hold over 400 festivals a year. The Montréal Just for Laughs Festival is the largest international comedy festival in the world and takes place in July, while Québec City, the province’s capital, holds Québecadabra! during the Christmas season which includes a German Market, light shows and concerts. Forget Maple Syrup – while you’ll no doubt see the sticky, sweet liquid in shops, markets and poured onto deserts, Québec’s signature dish is actually Poutine which is a combination of fries, gravy and cheese curds.
