The mountainous Nantou County, Taiwan, is a place of natural beauty and rich culture with a variety of hostels in unique locations. Experience traditional tribal culture at Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. This is a popular local attraction that allows you to learn first-hand about the villages and lifestyles of Taiwan’s nine main tribes by pottery making, dancing, or cooking with genuine Taiwanese aboriginal tribe members. Then, take a cable car ride, complete with stunning views, over to the amusement park for some of Taiwan’s best rides. The best time to visit the park and village is between February and March when the Cherry Blossom trees are in bloom, creating a beautiful effect. Surrounded by the majestic Mount Shuishe and Mount Dajian, Sun Moon Lake is the largest natural lake in Taiwan – head up the mountain to the colourful and dramatic Wen Wu Temple to watch the sun set over the lake.
