One of the lesser known tourist destinations in South America is the city of Mendoza in Argentina. Located in a region of foothills and high plains on the eastern side of the Andes, its surroundings are a great place to grow grapes (and thus make wine), making this one of the most important wine regions in Argentina. Our hostels in Mendoza are dotted around the city and will give you the chance to experience its unique atmosphere as well as the laid-back pace of life. Take a wander through the large avenues and streets, or have a glass of wine at a bar and watch life go by. Highlights of a visit here include the San Martin Park, Independence Square, Central Park, Casa de Fader, Espana Square and the obvious wine tasting tours. The surrounding area also offers great opportunities for adventure activities, including trips to the famous Aconcagua peak.
