Malmö, Sweden, is a compact and diverse city which is easily explored on foot. Visit in the summer months to experience the best of Malmö’s beaches and the biggest event of the year, Malmöfestivalen – a sustainable festival which takes place every August and features over 250 performances, an amusement park, and theatre shows. For winter visits, the Western Harbor is worth a trip year-round, with its beachfront boasting a collection of restaurants, bars, cafes and nightclubs, as well as the architecturally stunning ‘Turning Torso’ building. Möllevångstorget is a young neighbourhood full of different cultures, exotic restaurants and street markets from early morning until late afternoon. Visit one of Malmo’s parks to escape the noise of the city – the largest, Pildammsparken, is located close to one of Malmö’s hostels. There, you can view open air theatre performances or gaze at the large pond which was man-made in the 1600s.
