Ljubljana, Slovenia, is an ancient and beautiful city with hostels in many different locations. Despite its small size, it’s bursting with fascinating history and architecture, as well as the fun and energy of a university city. Ljubljana was founded by Romans in 1AD and this results in there still being a lot of Roman ruins in the city to discover. Visit the National Museum of Slovenia to explore more than 200 Roman monuments dating back to between the 1st and 4th centuries AD. Or perhaps, head to Mirje Street to see the Roman city wall. Perched atop a hill and gazing regally down on the city is Ljubljana Castle which you can explore as well as appreciating the incredible views offered from its privileged height. Take a day trip to Lake Bled and be amazed by its breathtaking scenery and church that sits proudly in the centre of the lake.
