The Julian Alps or “Julians” (Julijci) as the Slovenians like to call them are magnificent mountains situated in the north-western part of Slovenia and have a surface area of around 4400km2 most of which is the Triglav Nation Park. The mountains boast an impressive 150 peeks with an elevation of over 2000 metres as well as the highest peak in Slovenia, the Triglav (2864m). Time will seem to stop in these mountains as a hiking spirit settles into your soul. Wander around the many well marked trails and take in the sheer natural beauty and breath-taking landscapes. The Julians are a great way to escape the stresses of modern life. They can be accessed from many towns like Kranjska Gora, Bovec, Tolmin, Bohinj, Bled, Radovljica, where you will also find quality hostels.
