Hostelling International Tripbook for

Budapest

16 Entries

Budapest, or the Pearl of the Danube, is the capital city of Hungary, and is split in two by the River Danube. With its central European location, it’s a great place to begin an InterRail journey through the continent. All of our hostels are within easy reach of public transportation which can be used to explore this unique and historical city. The Chain Bridge connects the two parts, Buda and Pest, and was formerly considered one of the wonders of the world due to its brilliant architecture. It’s worth visiting at night to see the bridge lit up in all its glory. The Sziget Festival takes place in August and is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. Another thing not to be missed is the city’s Ruin bars - abandoned buildings that have been converted into bars and usually contain mismatched furniture along with an easy-going atmosphere.
