Enjoy the unspoiled nature surrounding Ytra Lón hostel - ideal for wildlife lovers and seekers of remote, beautiful landscapes, with the comforts of friendly family-owned accommodation. Whilst breath-taking coastal hikes, trout fishing in the adjacent river Lónsá, and spotting remarkable seabirds are all in a day here, the luminescent beauty of the northern lights is an undeniable highlight.

Guests can relax in the warm and inviting hot tub and watch the starry, sometimes colour-hued sky from here all year round. Along with the idyllic location, there are 9 studio apartments for 2-4 people, with bathrooms, and kitchenettes fully equipped with cooking facilities. Bed linen and towels are for hire at reception, and a delicious breakfast buffet is provided with homemade goodies such as smoked trout, lambspaté and marmalade.

Ytra Lón is proud of its green status; working hard for environmental friendliness and self-sufficiency, you can feel cosy with a clear conscience here. This hostel also offers a drive-and-go service for guests: go see the teeming wildlife on the Langanes peninsula, the ruins of Skálar village, or why not explore the Misty Mountain – your lift awaits, so just enquire at reception.
