YHA National Park hostel is located on the fringes of New Zealand’s oldest national park and dual World Heritage area and is the closest hostel to the famous Tongariro Crossing.

With magnificent views of the volcanoes right from the doorstep, the accommodation ranges from budget backpacker beds in dorms to private ensuite rooms. Other facilities include TV lounge, self-catering kitchen, barbecue, spa pool and Internet. The hostel is built around a challenging indoor climbing hall and has all the facilities one would expect, including transport to and from the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, Northern Circuit, 42 Traverse and Whakapapa ski fields when open.

From tramping to biking to white-water rafting, this place is an outdoor junkies' paradise. On a rainy day, challenge your strength and skill at the hostel’s climbing wall.

The cleanliness of this place was very disappointing. The rooms, kitchen, showers, and toilets were all rather dirty. I am actually surprised that Hi-Hostels and YHA certified this place. I would not recommend this place to others and would not stay here again.

A hostel not exclusive to NZ/YHA. Mixed interests and objectives.
