Pamper in Hanmer Springs
Want to soak in a 42⁰C hot pool surrounded by redwoods and mountains? Kick back alpine style in the South Island’s bracingly hot, natural thermal pools. Hanmer Springs village has been a year-round relaxation destination for 125 years. And for good reason. While activities include forest walks, mountain biking, horse trekking, skiing, golf, bungy jumping and jet boating, it’s the iconic thermal reserve that draws locals and travellers seeking thermal rejuvenation. Unlike the North Island’s geothermal hot pools, heat is harnessed from active fault lines deep in the earth for Hanmer Springs’ pools, of which there are many. Thermal mineral, sulphur and freshwater pools range in temperature from 32⁰C to 42⁰C. YHA Hanmer Springs is a hop, skip and a three minute walk to the pools and village centre.
