Skógar Hostel

Hostel Skógar

Hostelling International

Welcome to our hostel

Hostel Skógar is situated in an old school, close to Skógafoss, one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland. Skógar is a popular place surrounded by great and varied nature - think glaciers, mountains, black beaches, green acres, forested areas, waterfalls and good hiking routes.

At the hostel you will find a common room to meet other travellers in, a TV room to chill out and watch a movie, a garden so you can sit outside when the weather’s good and a self-catering kitchen to cook your meals in – alternatively Anna’s Café nearby is the most favoured restaurant.

Skógar Hostel is a great stop over for those who are hiking over Fimmvörðuháls, which is one of the most popular routes in the country. The nearby Skógar Museum is also one of the most frequently visited of its kind in Iceland.

The Hostel is very near the Skógafoss - its a unique place. Friendly staff, 0-24 reception! The kitchen is big enough and very good equipped! You have everything what you need to cook, to wash your dishes etc. The dining area is plenty big. There are washing machines (for cash). I was in 7 beds dorm for 1 night only. The space is enough but not too much, but for a night stay is ok. The Hostel is ok, i liked it.

Ist dreckig und stinkt! Decken sind hauchdünn und die Betten wie die ganze Ausstattung kommt anscheinend aus dem Gefängnis.

This is the best Youth Hostel we experienced in Iceland with a unique atmosphere !! Very welcoming place, with highly sympathic people, good place to meet and share with other people. Special mention for the shower in the garden, this was a UNIQUEe experience, I do recommend !!!

we stayed in a few HI hostels and of them this was by far the worst. The shower were ok, however they were at the opposite end of the building from the bedrooms through the kitchen and laundry so not overly great. The bedroom however was very gross. It smelled, the sheets were old and gross, the bed was old and rickety walls were dirty and had holes where they had changed light fittings and not repaired the wall. it was pretty unwelcoming and unhomely.
