Skógar Hostel

Hostel Skógar

Hostelling International

Welcome to our hostel

Hostel Skógar is situated in an old school, close to Skógafoss, one of the best known waterfalls in Iceland. Skógar is a popular place surrounded by great and varied nature - think glaciers, mountains, black beaches, green acres, forested areas, waterfalls and good hiking routes.

At the hostel you will find a common room to meet other travellers in, a TV room to chill out and watch a movie, a garden so you can sit outside when the weather’s good and a self-catering kitchen to cook your meals in – alternatively Anna’s Café nearby is the most favoured restaurant.

Skógar Hostel is a great stop over for those who are hiking over Fimmvörðuháls, which is one of the most popular routes in the country. The nearby Skógar Museum is also one of the most frequently visited of its kind in Iceland.

Nice people to take care of our reservation, even though it would be nice to mention the Check In time on the reservation (Who knows it is 3pm??? except when you arrive there) We are couple and were in a room with 2 separate beds instead of double bed The place is comfy, nice heater (a bit too hot), and sometimes noisy because located on ground floor Overall experience is very positive, it is pricy for a hostel but I think it's like this everywhere in Iceland..

L'endroit est propre et fonctionnel. Il sent un peu le renfermé, et ce n'est pas le grand confort, mais il contient le minimum de base.

Great room, the kitchen is excellent for an hostel. Was a bit hard to find but it's very well located on a tour of southern Iceland, right next to a beautiful waterfall.

I had maybe 5 minutes of WiFi during my stay, even though my room was right next to the router. The other people in my room had the same issue. That's a problem when you are travelling to a town with no other way of communicating to the outside world.
