The hostel is located at the centre of town, in an old house built as a hotel during the golden years of Siglufjörður. The surrounding nature is renowned for its beauty and is perfect for outdoor activities. Siglufjörður is a skier’s paradise, has outstanding slopes and surrounding valleys make great trails for cross-country skiing. The fjords and valleys in the area are popular for bird-watching and hiking.
The rooms are well equipped and comfortable and the common areas are great for relaxing or chatting to your fellow travellers.
Siglufjörður used to be the herring capital of Iceland and a thriving colourful town with a goldrush-like atmosphere. Signs of its past glory can still be seen in The Herring Era Museum, and breathe life into the remarkable past of the town which peaks during the Herring Adventure festival in August. The Folk Music festival is held by the Museum of Icelandic Folk Music in July.
What travellers think
The bedroom, lounge and kitchen were spacious. We had a nice stay.

mentioned in the Gestabók: No flat sheet, no towel, no shelf, no hold to the desktop, sink and debits spurting cold water, huge dust lousy Internet connection. Keys must be all the same, someone entered my room. Not enough toilet and shower. Hot water is returned to 22H by the cold water tap. Filthy sink and I did not even mention the soap based and the sandy layer of dust on the window sill. The price is far too high for this hostel. Take this example Grundarfjörður Google Translate
