Sæberg HI Hostel

Halfway between Reykjavík and Akureyri you’ll find Sæberg Hostel.

Ideal place for those looking for a peaceful countryside setting to relax and recharge the batteries. After a long day of driving, the private geothermal hot tub on the shore makes for the perfect place to relax and take in the views of the sea and watch the sun go down. Birds such as oystercatchers and eider ducks make their home on the beach, seals and whales can also sometimes be spotted swimming through the shallow water of the fjord.

In the area:

  • The local museum is just 400 meters away and features exhibits on local life, women´s history and culture. It also houses a shark fishing boat that is over 200 years old- the only one to be preserved in Iceland.
  • The Icelandic Seal Center is twenty minutes drive away and offers the best information on seal colonies, their species and where to find them.
  • Midway on the ring road between Reykjavik and Akureyri, Sæberg makes the ideal rest stop on your road trip.

 

Good to note:

During the summer there are two daily buses from Akureyri and Reykjavík and one during the winter. Guests arriving by bus should go out at the Reykjaskóli stop.
