Welcome to our hostel
Around the hostel
Hostelling International believes that hostelling is not just about having a place to stay; it’s about having fun, experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. A non-profit membership organisation, HI works continually to expand our network to new places, working with governments and voluntary agencies to create the same practices and high standards everywhere to enable global interaction. No matter who you are, where you come from or where you are going we want to offer you the real hostel experience.
Iceland’s unique nature is the country’s main tourist attraction, yet there are major environmental concerns facing many of these iconic landscapes. HI Iceland is offering its guests the chance to support conservation efforts run by Landvernd, Iceland’s leading non-for profit environmental organisation. Please consider donating to help protect this inspiring part of the world. Read more at www.hostel.is and www.hostel.is/Sustainability/

Would you dare to swim in the sea where the water is around -1° C and dressed in my best ballroom dress? Well if you do then you can do that in Iceland because it is a popular traditon with the locals on a New Years Day. The cold water shocks the body and it is said that it is great to take a hot bath afterwards. You can play volleyball on the beach and play in the sand or go for a swim. The water is heated during summertime and the water should be around 18° - 20°C (64° - 68° F). Remarkable experience that you and your friends will never forget!
