Where next?

Kyoto and Lake Biwa. On the train to Lake Biwa, exit Omimaiko Station. Follow footpath along the lake northwards. Just past hotel, an old guy runs a little beer/snack stand on the water. So friendly - he'll talk you into a beer and a moment to relax.

Attraction tip

Osaka Castle - it's so...so...very reminiscent of Medieval Japan, even though the inside of the castle itself is a modern museum. You go wanting to taste the days of Sekigahara...and this is pretty close. More so than Edo Castle for me.

Budget meal tip

There's a Pakistani restaurant nearby right on the corner. Excellent food and quiet atmosphere - worth a look for comfort food!

Nightlife & entertainment tip

The whole neighborhood around Namba Station is a frenetic, whole-hearted exercise in modern Japanese market culture - lots of fun - it's Diagon Alley meets Mall of America. Go see it!
