Welcome to our hostel
Situated in Rowardennan, at the foot of Ben Lomond, and on the West Highland Way.. With spacious, comfortable bunk rooms, a large dining kitchen where you can cook your own meals, lounge with woodstove, hot showers and a great drying room, the bunkhouse is an ideal haven after your hard day in the great outdoors.
Before booking please note that at present we cannot guarantee your booking will go ahead as we will have to comply with whatever coronavirus restrictions are in place. Larger group bookings in particular may be subject to change due to restrictions. We cannot refund deposits as deposits are taken by Hi Hostels, and do not come to the National Trust for Scotland. Alternatively for the time being you can get in touch directly, by email at benlomond@nts.org.uk, to make a provisional booking without paying a deposit.
We have two bunkrooms each with private bathroom. At present, as per the Scottish Government current regulations, we can only offer private rooms versus individual beds in dorms, so have to charge for the whole room (i.e. cost of 4 beds or cost of 6 beds) to be able to operate. One bunkroom sleeps four and the other sleeps six. At present we are limiting bookings to a maximum of six* people (*children under 12 are exempt). Each room can only be used by one household, and it may be that we can only have one household in the entire bunkhouse. Our booking system only shows the 4 bed room available at present, however if you wish to book for more than 4 people please contact us directly on benlomond@nts.org.uk. The cost is based on a charge of £23 to £25 per bed (so the cost of all 4 beds, or all 6 beds, depending on which room you are booking) depending on the time of year, including provision of free tea, coffee, and basic goods for making your own breakfast (bread, margarine, porridge oats).
Unfortunately we cannot take dogs when the bunkhouse is in shared use, you can however bring well behaved dogs if you are booking the whole bunkhouse for exclusive use, but must check this with us in advance of your booking.
Run by the National Trust for Scotland, all profits from the bunkhouse help towards the path repair and other conservation work on Ben Lomond.
The Ardess Hidden History Trail is a 1 mile loop walk through the natural Oak woodland behind the bunkhouse, and gives a great insight into past lives in the area.
