In winter, Niseko is paradise for skiers and snowboarders. Combination of good powder snow and accessibility to the off-piste (out of resort area) is very attractive. You may see long cue to the peak of Mt Niseko Annupuri in fine day. In summer, rafting, trekking, MTB, cycling and walking are popular but there are even more choices of outdoor activities here. You can see very nice view of Mt Yotei or Niseko-Mountain-Range from various spot in Niseko. Also, there are many Onsen (Geo thermal hot spa), local veg and products shops scattered in the area. They are all very popular to both locals and tourists.
This Youth Hostel is former old elementary school. It was renovated and used as an accommodation for years. Even now, some nostalgic tastes of old school still remain. Our name “Karimpani” means “Cherry tree” in Ainu (Hokkaido’s indigenous people’s language) and there is large one here.
What travellers think
Staying at the Karimpani Fujiyama Hostel was spectacular. Max and his family have made a truly comfortable and overly accommodating environment for everyone. Everyone was upbeat and excited for the snow and when the weather was preventing trips to the mountain the hostel was warm and cosy. Max was always ready with advice and he made sure that you were taken care of. Breakfast and dinner was always homemade and delicious. I met great people and will be visiting again!
