Welcome to our hostel

Morag's Lodge is set in wooded grounds, just minutes’ walk from the bustling village of Fort Augustus by Loch Ness.

The hostel offers en-suite rooms, modern facilities and a relaxed atmosphere as well as free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. There is also a licensed bar, where you can enjoy a range of drinks and relax beside an open fire, which hosts regular live music.

While you are there, relax by the Loch and try some Nessie spotting, take a walk or cycle through the network of paths around the village, enjoy a Loch Ness cruise or visit the Clansman Centre to find about Highland life in the 17th century. Explore the Great Glen Way and the famous Corrieyairack Pass. This place is great for hillwalking, mountain biking, cycling and water sports. In winter a range of snow sports are available at Nevis Range which is 45 minutes’ drive.

The events in the bar are loud and go on late. I think it's a younger person's place. The bunkroom though was clean and comfortable, good quality mattress, nice bathroom, secure. Bar a bit dingy but single malts very reasonably priced. Cheerful barman, some of the reception staff were a bit offhand. Continental breakfast included boiled eggs but not real coffee.

Thank-you for your feedback! We welcome people of all ages and have various room types to suit all. You were allocated one of our quiet rooms and we are happy to hear you found it comfortable. Our bar is designed to look like a traditional Highland bothy and, as you say, has a very reasonable selection of single malts as well as other local beverages. We also host events in the bar for our guests such as pub quiz nights and games nights, but have plenty comfy quiet areas should you not wish to join in. We are sorry to hear the reception staff were offhand, this is a highly unusual comment as the thing we are most proud of is our friendly and welcoming team. Your comments will be raised and addressed at our next team meeting, thanks again for your review and we hope you had a great onward trip :0)
