With the spectacular Cuillin Mountains on its doorstep, Glenbrittle Youth Hostel is a great place to spend a few peaceful days.

The hostel has a modern self-catering kitchen as well as plenty of dining space. It is equipped with a drying room and a homely shared lounge area adorned with old photographs of the surrounding area. There are numerous books and games as well as a guitar for the evenings.

You can go walking and climbing, or just sit back and enjoy this wonderful rugged scenery - you don't need to climb a Munro to appreciate the amazing views. You can see waterfalls, lochs, beaches, fairy pools and the Islands of Rhum, Eigg, Muck, Soay, Canna and Uist, all without taking your hands out of your pockets! Also not too far away and worth visiting: Dunvegan Castle, Talisker Whisky distillery at Carbost, Glendale Toy Museum, Colbost Croft Museum.

Spacious and clean. Very close to Fairy Pools and several other walks. Full kitchen. Showers were completely closed in (not even gap under the door) so it was quite uncomfortable after a few minutes if you are having a hot one. The sinks in the bathroom was running at a scalding hot temperature which made it almost impossible to wash your hands. Bedroom walls are paper thin. We were kept up until midnight by a loud group talking in their room rather than in the common area.
