Welcome to our hostel

Inveraray Hostel is a small and friendly hostel situated in the scenic Royal Burgh of Inveraray in Scotland. The hostel offers comfortable accommodation in a welcoming town, close by to local amenities.

Inveraray Hostel offers a variety of room types, including cosy family rooms. The hostel is great for sports-enthusiasts; guests will find a golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and plenty of walking and cycling trails close by.

The town, built in the 18th century, sits on the shore of Loch Fyne - a large sea loch famous for its kippers! Although Inveraray is now no longer the county town, it is still a bustling place and an ideal centre from which to explore. Guests can head to the Mull of Kintyre, the Cowal peninsula or the islands of Islay, Jura, Gigha and Arran for spectacular natural scenery.

We booked in June our stay by H I nr 212477262 and paid a deposit of 27,98€. Neil Bailey mailed us regarding our booking and we did a reply to reconfirm. On arrival he could not find a booking from us and had only 1 room left and an emergency room (very small and it smelled). We paid the full rate despite our deposit. After the weekend we came back to stay and again he did not book the rooms (paid) for us! A girl (volunteer) discovered it in time and helped us. She was very nice and help full.

Thank you for your feedback. As explained in a lengthy reply earlier, I aceepted full reponsibility for not having your name in the registar but I never led you to believe that we could not accommodate you as we did have rooms available. Room 10 is slightly smaller than the others and since you did not state what the actual smell was, I will attach no relevance to this accusation. You paid the full amount for one night as well as for another two at a later date. I informed you of your rooms in advance. To say that they were not booked upon your return is completely without foundation. The staff here went out our way to help you when your husband badly injured his leg in a fun race he participated in and also when you made accusations that your expensive camera had been stolen. Thankfully, it turned out that no one had stolen anything but that you in fact had left it in the pub the night before which can be confirmed by the staff at The George Hotel, Inverarary. You suffered a lot of bad luck on your holiday and in sympathy we have offered you a free night's accommodation here at the hostel for you and your family. Thank you.

1. Slept like a log both nights. Fine cotton bedding, new pillows & light downy grand. Mattress in good nick. Wooden bunk cocooned self & upstairs roommate. This despite compact room & being next to main lounge/kitchen area. 2. Warden Very helpful & accommodating; day access with code great to prep for wedding. 3. Decking marquee en route & delayed yet able to prepare meal on hob on arrival. (Others though couldn't get oven to work.) 3. Handy stores nearby & good opening times 4.sociable layout.
