With the sea on three sides and Vatnajökull, the biggest glacier in Europe to the northwest, Höfn is a lovely fishing town with 1500 inhabitants. Hostel Höfn can be found in its centre, just 7km from the airport.
The hostel offers a range of dorms and private rooms, with a range of facilities to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. It includes a kitchen so you can practise your cookery skills, Internet access so you can check your emails and research your trip, and a common room so you can chill-out and chat to other travellers.
The Höfn hostel makes a great base for visiting the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, the Vatnajökull glacier or the Lónsöræfi wilderness area. The location also allows you to choose from a variety of activities including boat tours, glacier tours on jeeps or snow mobiles, and jeep and hiking tours.
What travellers think
I stayed in your hostel with my family and other friends on July 24th. Our room for four people was too small (not more than 8 square meters). The toilet near our room didn't function; in a so big hostel there was only one machine for toast (the second one was broken); we payed 17 Euros for a dryer, but our clothes weren't dryed. So I think to pay 150 Euro for this accomodation is absolutely out of reality, also for icelandic standards.

There didn't seem to be any tours from Hofn to several of the local attractions. If you hope to visit the glacier by bus, make sure you check the timetables carefully the day before, as they leave very early.
