When I checked in, staff told that they don't ask for deposit, the amount paid on-line goes to HI as service fee. So, I ended up with paying extra. Also, web price was $55. when I made a reservation, but when I got confirmation it went up to $60.60 plus tax, and then when I got to the hotel, my deposit ($4.40) was taken away as a service fee so I ended up paying more than 15% than my original price. Although staff were friendly, Not happy about miscommunication/price differences on the web.

Hostel International does not keep track of our room inventory--meaning that if you request a certain size room, we may not have that available. The rate for the room you stayed in is $65 plus tax. HI takes a $4.40 service charge when you reserve the room through them, and we collect the balance plus the local rooms and meals tax (which we are bound to do, by law.) We subtracted the $4.40 service fee (which you paid directly to HI) from the $65 room rate, and the balance of $60.60 plus tax of $6.06 was charged to your credit card. We believe this to be a very good value for a private (not dormitory style) hostel room.

super expensive, far too expensive for a so called HI, room super basic, too basic considering the price. Very bad ratio price/quality.

I respectfully disagree. This guest booked a hostel room during the busiest time of the year, and rather than telling her we had no rooms in the size she requested, we allowed her to stay in one of our larger rooms with a private half-bath, at the price of one of our smaller rooms.

Really nice vibe to this 'hostel' which is actually a hotel - or part of the hotel at least. There isn't too much to do around the area, but I stayed for 2 nights. if you were passing through I would definitely recommend!

Thanks! Although with half a dozen very good restaurants, the Briggs Opera House, Northern Stage, Opera North, and numerous fun shops and stores within very easy walking distance, we believe there's plenty to see and do here! Thanks for staying with us--hope you get to stay with us again!
