Hostel Whistler

Hostelling International

Welcome to our hostel

Opened in July 2010, the HI-Whistler hostel is a purpose-built hostel that was originally used as part of the Whistler Athletes' Village during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. This brand new facility sets the standard in hostelling with all the amenities you'd expect and then some.

Canada's west coast playground and home of Whistler's best rated hostel, if you love adrenaline highs, Whistler is the place for you! From skiing, boarding, mountain biking and bungee jumping to zip lining, white water rafting, snowmobiling and ATVing, Whistler has got it all.

There's more to HI-Whistler than just a place to bed down for the night. Grab a coffee, a snack, a meal and a beer or wine glass at Cheaky's Café in the hostel lobby, lounge on the outdoor decks with mountain views, store your bike, skis, and boards in the equipment storage room, hang out in the media room with its 52" HDTV and meet some cool new folks over a free game of pool in the games room.

Hello Jason! Thanks for the review and happy you had an excellent experience! We actually just got ourselves a brand new carpet cleaner in time for our scheduled spring deep clean. We'll also check out the WiFi in your room for any interference. It's strange though because the third floor has the strongest Access Point device. Regardless, we see what up with it. Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Cheers, Ryan, GM

Please train your staff better. They need to be more attentive. We had a difficult time getting our bookings done. Emails went unanswered and bookings over the phone were missed up. Most girls on the staff desk were more interested in talking to each other than paying attention to those in front. A poor experience.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that our staff did not meet your expectations. They normally excel in this area, so it is concerning to hear. We actually just had a staff meeting regarding this issue a few days ago and I can assure you that they do not have any intent to be unwelcoming. We have found that the team has be getting more and more close with each other (which we are happy about!), but they may not be realizing that the perception this to the guests could be bad if they are doing it at the wrong time. We spoke about ensuring we are always putting guests needs first and to always maintain a professional vibe. We don't want to lose our fun-loving atmosphere, but we should not be letting down guests such as your feedback. I do hope that we can show you a better experience in the future. Kind Regards, Ryan, GM

Compared to other HI places stayed in, this one barely makes an impression. A pity as HI in well-travelled town of Whistler should be like the beacon of excellence for other HIs. Only few staff are attentive and provide correct information. Others probably should not be in this sector.

Sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations, Vikas. As outlined in my response to your other review, we have had a staff meeting about this issue and I believe the team knows where we missed the mark and how we can provide better customer service. We've put your feedback to use for improving our hostel, so thank you for taking the time to share. Safe Travels, Ryan, GM
