Welcome to our hostel

Originally a coast guard station, HI Truro is the furthest hostel out on the ‘arm’ of Cape Cod. Located in the Cape Cod National Seashore, the hostel is just a 5-minute walk from the beach. Large picture windows provide a breathtaking view from the spacious kitchen and dining area. The Truro hostel has two private rooms in addition to dorms. Breakfast and parking are free.

HI Truro provides easy access to fresh water ponds, bike paths, cranberry bogs, and nature trails. Provincetown, with its whale-watching opportunities and its vibrant street life, art galleries, shops, and restaurants is just 10 miles away.

The hostel is located 2 miles (3.5 km) from the nearest bus stop, so bring along a bicycle for the hostel visit if not travelling by car. Bike rentals are available in Orleans and Provincetown, and Cape Cod buses are equipped with bike racks.

It was awesome as usual. The current staff is great. Loretta is a great leader and brings good sunny energy. The things that need attention Loretta is very much aware of. Air flow and fans in the co ed dorm.NEW TOASTERS.I didn't need to use them but everyone was complaining! The front porch could be so much more inviting with a few handing baskets or a few fun pots of flowers. I may volunteer to do that next season.

The hostel could go solar, unless they already are, in which case, "my bad!" And I love the note in the kitchen that says to throw all your "sea related compost"--shells, bones, etc back into the sea, where the calcium will be re-utilized---I'd never thought of that. I love this hostel---I'm a repeat guest--it feels like home. Because of this, I'll check out European hostels when I go there next summer--if those hostels are as inviting in spirit as this one is, I know my stay will be wonderful!
