Hostel Sausalito

Hostelling International

Welcome to our hostel

Marin Headlands, a comfortable hostel in a rustic setting, sits on a hillside in the Marin Headlands section of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco.

The hostel itself is nice and spacious with a large kitchen, large reading room with couches, and a downstairs game room with foos ball, pool table, and a ping-pong table.

In the park just outside the door, you can hike the open meadows, bike the coastal mountainside, check out the operating Point Bonita lighthouse, tour military barracks and batteries from both world wars, see the nation's only officially restored Nike missile site, or head to one of many local beaches. Several other popular destinations, including Mount Tamalpais State Park and Muir Woods, where you can stand or hike among the majestic coastal redwoods are also nearby.

We are in a beautifully isolated area with very limited to no cell reception and no public transportation except for on Saturday and Sunday.

Staff showed concern for my injuries when I fell down a cliff and provided First Aid and were helpful with all of my needs. Mira and Joe. My thanks to them.

This is a terrific hostel. I especially appreciate the location - easy to walk to so many places of interest - and the free parking is a real benefit not often found in a large city. I have stayed here many times and look forward to doing so again. Thank you. It's hard to rate the Environmental Practices question. It seems like every place you go they sort what's going to be thrown away differently. Why isn't there consistency? I think this would help with compliance.
