HI Santa Cruz is a picturesque cottage perched atop the historic Beach Hill neighbourhood. The hostel is in a convenient location, only two blocks from beaches, the wharf and the Boardwalk Amusement Park, and only 5 blocks to downtown. All public transportation is within walking distance.
This Santa Cruz hostel offers dorms and private rooms. Guests can enjoy the pretty gardens, common room, kitchen and dining hall. With Internet and laundry facilities available on site, this is the perfect base for exploring the city.
One of the highlights of Santa Cruz is the Beach Boardwalk which dates from 1907 and is the oldest beachfront amusement park on the West Coast. The boardwalk has a glorious old-school Americana vibe and its most famous rides include the half-mile long Giant Dipper, a vintage 1924 wooden roller coaster, and the 1911 Looff carousel – both National Historic Landmarks.
What travellers think
Everything was great, really clean and beautiful old building - just the lockout during the day was inconvenient. Would be really good to be able to at least access a shower / bathroom when coming back from the beach in the middle of the day.

Cute little hostel right between Downtown and the beach with it all in walking distance. Staff, rooms, showers, all really good. Lots of free food is a big plus, too. But the curfew really bothered me. Apart from that it was a pleasant stay.
