HI Santa Cruz is a picturesque cottage perched atop the historic Beach Hill neighbourhood. The hostel is in a convenient location, only two blocks from beaches, the wharf and the Boardwalk Amusement Park, and only 5 blocks to downtown. All public transportation is within walking distance.
This Santa Cruz hostel offers dorms and private rooms. Guests can enjoy the pretty gardens, common room, kitchen and dining hall. With Internet and laundry facilities available on site, this is the perfect base for exploring the city. To maintain its high standard the hostel is closed during the day for cleaning, giving you the perfect excuse to get out and explore what the city has to offer.
One of the highlights of Santa Cruz is the Beach Boardwalk which dates from 1907 and is the oldest beachfront amusement park on the West Coast. The boardwalk has a glorious old-school Americana vibe and its most famous rides include the half-mile long Giant Dipper, a vintage 1924 wooden roller coaster, and the 1911 Looff carousel – both National Historic Landmarks.
What travellers think
I loved the location only two blocks from the beach, there was a relaxing coffee shop right on the strip with ocean view. The people are very friendly in Santa Cruz. My bunk roomies were very considerate and polite, for bunk beds I was very comfortable and warm. This place was perfect for what I needed, I was in town for the weekend to visit my son at UCSC. Cute clean comfortable place to stay.
