Clean, well maintained. Carpets in front of the bathrooms of private bath room has water stains, but still clean. A+ for a hostel.

I have never been in such an expensive hostel. The kitchen area was great but the toilets and bathroom wasn't very good. Throw out the bathtubs and install nice and clean showers! Nobody needs bathtubs full of hair in a hostel. The paint color of the rooms (mint) was just horrible. To sum it up: The hostel didn't match my expectations by far. I have been to way better hostels for a much lower price. Have a look at the YHA Brisbane downtown. This is how hostels should be like

Thanks for your comments here. I'm sorry you felt the hostel was too expensive. Unfortunately, San Francisco is an expensive city, but our rates are comparable with other hostels in SF, and we make sure to set our rates below several of them. As a non-profit organization, our rates recoup our operating costs, pay our staff, support other hostels in the network, and fund our educational programs, such as travel scholarships for those without the economic means to travel the world. A majority of our hallway bathrooms use showers (not bathtub showers), all of which are deep-cleaned daily and spot-cleaned throughout the day. I will follow up with you with a private message about when you found the showers to be unsatisfactory so that we can close any gaps in our housekeeping. -Andy, Assistant General Manager
