staff made reasonable accommodations. Back injury and arthritic knee make the top bunk difficult to get into. All lower bunks have odd numbers. Upper bunks are even numbers. San Diego hostel is located in the noisy Gas Lamp district where many of the buildings were built before elevators. Thankfully this one does have one. Many of the other hostels in the area do not have one. Not all rooms have a bath.

Budget meal tip

I had some wonderful meals at the Sol Cal Café, which is all vegetarian/organic and is reasonably priced. It's at 9th and Island (or is it 9th and J? something like that) I highly recommend it!!
