got to borrow a fan one night when it was hot n stale in the ladies bunk room. Unfortunately the annoying woman (who also came back drunk and banged on the hostel wall to be let in at 3am) also turned the fan off the second she came back from her usual drunken Waikiki time. Staff can't do anything about the painfully stale weather during the tradewind shift that happens Oct/Nov, but wish they could fix hostelers checking in at Midnight, and being drunktards that turn on the fucking lights at 2am.

Thank you for your review. It is unfortunate that some people travel thinking they are privileged and can do what they want. Two staff spoke to that girl about living in shared space and having consideration to others. In her case it didn't work. We will be more conscious to point out to her and the very few others like her to be mindful about living in a community. Take care.

I stay here a lot when visiting my son. My stays are always excellent. One recommendation I would make though is the bed I stayed in (room 2 bed 2) was not the best... bed springs are poking through the mattress and dug into my flesh all night. Very uncomfortable, and there was no position I could sleep in where I was not poked with horrible metal springs. That bed needs a new mattress asap!

Thank you for your review. Yes, new mattresses are on our list...A good twin will cost about $250 apiece - so we're saving money for it...Aloha!

This is a sweet, low-cost find in Honolulu, right next to the university. The staff is very friendly and the place is kept super clean. The small downside of using bed space in the dorms: I'm 6 foot 2 inches and wasn't able to stretch out in the bunk bed made for someone likely 6 feet or under. Also, you hazard a snoring bunkmate in any dorm :( but hands-down this is a great deal anyway. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I suppose we should invest in a 'long boy' bed for tall people like you! Happy travels! Aloha!
