Loved the dormitory space--reminded me of my college days. Nice bathrooms and good parking. Two things: check-in is at the UNB housing office, not at the hostel. This isn't stated on the website and made it confusing to find. Also, the room was quite warm. It had one small window and no fan to pull in the cool air outside. I ended up leaving the door of the room open for ventilation, which made me feel less secure.

The property claims to have AC, but this is only in the hallways. The bedroom was sweltering hot (warmer than outside weather, which was high 20s) and the window could barely be propped open and din't provide any relief from the heat. I was so uncomfortable that I cancelled my second night's stay. Also, I know there can't be much control over guests, but there was another person staying there that I think may have been suffering from mental illness and was very disruptive.

My teenage daughter and I were given a spacious room with comfortable beds, washrooms being located on the same floor, a kitchen in the basement and common room with comfortable armchairs, one of them accommodating Thomas the tomcat. The hostel was thoroughly cleaned every day; the staff was helpful and friendly and it wasn't as noisy as many German hostels. Being located in "downtown" Fredericton, the hostel has shopping facilities and little restaurants nearby.
