Located at the half way point of the Cabot Trail, surrounded by the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the hostel is ideally situated for moose spotting and hiking the many trails offered in this 1000 square kilometre reserve. Walking distance to beach, shops, whale watching, restaurants, museum and harbour. Scenic views of the mountains. During the fishing season walk down to the harbour and purchase fresh lobsters or snow crab from the fishermen.

I loved this hostel. The manager was quite friendly and informative. The location is inside the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and is great for exploring the park. The wi-fi was slow at times. The kitchen was much larger than I expected and there is a second (smaller) kitchen area. The rooms are secure. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. There are a couple of restaurants nearby but not a lot to choose from. Be aware of this, especially if arriving at night when they may be closed.

Budget meal tip

There isn't much in the area, so make sure you've picked up your food before getting there.
