Guests were rude and discourteous. Arguing in the hall in the middle of the night. Came in drunk and knocking around. Vomited in the sink in the women's bathroom. Need to reinforce or just enforce lights out, drunkeness and noise after whatever the curfew is...11? Not everyone understands or values the Hostel concept and experience. Jonah (front desk guy) is awesome though!!

Hello and thank you for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. I first would like to apologize for your experience. A good hostel if you want to visit Austin -- but it is not in the center of things. It takes 15-20 minutes to get downtown by bus. The trade-off: a nice setting right by the lake, with a downtown view and plenty of outdoor seating, with a jogging trail right below and a nice bike trail into town on Lakeside Dr.

Thank you for your visit and your review of our hostel. We appreciate our location as well. I would also like to add that guests are also able to take a ride-share service from the hostel to downtown in about 6 minutes for about six dollars. Usually if you're not from Austin, these rides can be free because of all of the coupons for Austin-specific ride-share companies. Again, We do appreciate you staying with us and sharing your experience. -Kenny

Friendly staff, educated people, clean bedroom, great location. Short supply of milk for customers in the refrigerator. It just froze and they didn't have more. The floor in the men's restroom smelled to pee. Be careful with the price that appears online. It doesn't show the taxes. I had to pay more that the website told me to pay and the attendant was not able to explain me why because there is a new reservation system. Anyways, I was able to calculate the total amount more taxes it by my self.

Hi and thank you for staying with us and sharing your experience. I appreciate your kind comments about our staff and location. I do admit that the tax and membership fee are sometimes difficult to explain. I will try to though. As a member of Hostelling International, we charge a small membership fee to all guests who are not currently members. We are also a non-profit that use these fees for many beneficial programs including allowing individuals who may not have to means to travel, an opportunity to do so. I apologize that we were not able to explain that to you when you arrived, but please feel free to contact me personally with any questions you have. Thanks again!

Brilliant experience. Excellent location. Breakfast was wholesome. Staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Well structured for meeting fellow travelers. We were provided a Christmas meal gratis. Can't ask for much else. Cleanliness and hygiene was on point. Bathrooms were slightly smelly. But they were clean, tidy, and well maintained. And anyway, it's to be expected when sharing spaces. Kitchen was well equipped, and the diy ethic made the space all the more homely.
