Around the hostel
Join the HI Community
At HI, we want everybody to be able to enjoy the real hostelling experience: more than a place to stay, this is about opening minds, meeting new people, cultural immersion and getting travellers involved in our global activities. We love travelling as much as you do, so we have high hostel standards wherever we expand on the planet, but more than where you rest your head, this is about taking something unforgettable away with you – wherever you come from, or are going next.
The Sky is Alive in Dark Sky Country.
When the sun goes down the sky lights up! Jasper National Park is the world’s largest accessible Dark Sky Preserve. The night is alive with millions of stars and great chances to view the Northern Lights. Stay here and enjoy easy access to the best seats in the park. You won’t need your telescope but we recommend you bring your camera, this is one travel memory you’ll want to revisit again and again!
The Mighty Athabasca Falls.
This powerful waterfall is only a 10 minute walk from the hostel. Enjoy the area trails and platforms that are available to view and photograph this striking tourist attraction.
Cycling the Icefields Parkway.
Summer Activity! The Icefields Parkway, extending from Jasper National Park to Lake Louise, is one of the world's most stunning rides. As you cycle along the spine of the Rockies, past soaring mountains and turquoise lakes, you may think you'll need to rough it in the Canadian Rockies. But the truth is, it's far more pleasant to ride without all the gear. No cook stoves or tents - instead fully equipped kitchens, cozy living rooms, warm dry sleeping cabins, saunas and roaring fires. Hostelling International has a string of facilities perfectly placed along the parkway for you to overnight in after a long or short day's ride. Please note that Hostelling International does not provide a shuttle service.
