Best of the Alps - have fun in the Grindelwald youth hostel! It is undoubtedly one of the most comfortable hostels in the Alps. The welcoming cosiness has remained, but modern bedrooms and practical facilities for groups and families have now been added. More than ever before, the youth hostel is a rendezvous for sport fans and young guests from all over the world who want to experience the impressive world of the mountains around Grindelwald.
The youth hostel is fully equipped to accommodate different guests together. The same applies for individual travellers from all over the world. Forget the venerable youth hostel sleeping bag; with us you dream under a duvet. You stay either in the rustic main building or in the modern, functional annexe. The main house still bears all the hallmarks of the original Grindelwald construction method. The room with the fireplace and the various recreation rooms radiate that cosiness which is so typical of houses in this area.
What travellers think
Great location but future guests should be given more information on the availability of the bus as the path to the hostel is very very steep. Stay with family in own room was peaceful. Room was comfortable but the bed sheets provided were rather hard and scratchy. Evening meal and breakfast were excellent and the staff serving were very friendly and welcoming. Lot's of advice about what to do in the area.

Hotels are very expensive in interlaken and grindelwald. The youth hostel provide a very budget stay in the area. The hostel were clean. We suggest better ventilation in the room as it is very hot in summer time. The breakfast was nice, just we didn't know why they did not provide forks. It took 25 minutes walk uphill from the train station but the bus can reach there. The last bus operates at around 18:20 everyday. Torches were required when we walk back to the hostel in the evening.

Budget meal tip
one of the supermarkets at Grindelwald, but beware that the hostel only provides a microwave, no kitchen!
