This Dingle Youth Hostel is located in the Gaeltacht area and is the most westerly Youth Hostel in Europe. Set in rural County Kerry, the hostel is surrounded by mountains, such as Brandon Mountain, just 17km away. The coastline is only a five minute drive away and features rugged cliffs, including The Slea Head Cliffs.

The Dun Chaoin features a comfortable common room and offers a variety of room types. In the mornings, the hostel serves light continental breakfast. The hostel also offers a self-catering kitchen and a dining room, overlooking the Blasket Islands. Packed lunches are available for groups, with prior request.

Ideal for whale and dolphin watching, the area is also home to a huge population of seals. The small town of Dingle offers a seal sanctuary, just 15 minutes’ drive away. Further outdoor pursuits include golfing, hill walking, and cycling.

The staff was very friendly. Our room and bathroom, as well as the self-catering kitchen, were quite spacious and very clean. From the dining room and from our room, you could see the shore. The area is very quiet and there is a lot of beautiful nature around.
