Attraction tip

The hostel offers lots of discount vouchers for local attractions, such as the villas, the pool in Villa Olmo, the cliff railway in Como etc. There are also many hikes in the area, or you can take the ferry to other villages further up the lake. Seaplane tours are offered from Como. The historic centre of Como is quite pretty, and the lake front is always lovely for a wander.

Budget meal tip

The hostel was cheap, but the food was basic, nothing exceptional. Some bars on the main road from the hostel into the town centre offered pasta from €5 but watch out for the cover/drinks charge. On Borgo Vico there was a nice Birreria where they did great burgers for reasonable prices. There were also a couple of more expensive places there and an Indian just down the road from the hostel. The food was good, but the prices were a bit high for the amount you got (buffet on Sunday eve was better value).
