Surprised this is a HI hostel. Poor directions, metro stop doesn't exist. Advertises kitchen but sign asks you to get staff permission for use & it is basic - microwave & kettle, & no real bowls (only tiny soup bowls). Room hot with no fan to cool it down, opening windows means traffic noise & because it is ground floor & opposite outside seating for a bar it doesn't feel secure (I didn't feel comfortable sleeping with window open as someone could get in). No atmosphere & location not great.

When we arrived, the staff was not friendly at all. He didn't seem to like the fact that we didn't speak any Hungarian, and that we arrived after 12 pm. (Which I don't understand, knowing their reception is open 24/7.) The room was clean, but the blankets and pillows seemed old and dusty. However, the next day we were allowed to leave are luggage at the hostel, and the new staff was friendly.

The hostel was very empty for a youth hostel. Budapest suffers from an oversupply of budget accommodation and there is soooooo much private competition.

The hostel is very good but dont have breakfast. The room is comfortable, but there's a share bathroom, and it's not too good, but... Its a good and safe place to rest.
