The Bruegel Hostel is a great city centre hostel situated just 5 minutes’ walk from the Brussels Central Train Station and Grand Palace. It is an ideal place to stay for exploring this intriguing city.

Accommodation is in 1 - 4 bedded rooms, and facilities include a dining room with self-service restaurant, bar, TV room, common room, courtyard garden, Internet access and breakfast, which is included in the price. There is also a conference room available which has audio-visual equipment and offers meeting space for sixteen people.

The hostel’s central location means it’s an excellent starting point for sightseeing, with attractions such as the Atomium in Ossegem Park and the Museum of Cocoa and Chocolate just a short drive away.

On this occasion I stayed in the "annexe block" which isn't fitted out with "environmentally friendly" kit.......electric night storage, and fan heaters don't fit the bill. However I guess these will be changed in a future revitalisation. In the past I have stayed in the newer building and this is OK. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and professional. Returning to the Bruegel I am often welcomed by someone who remembers me from a previous visit - that's nice.

This is definitely not a destination for a couple on their last night together; separate beds in a two-bed private room, no kitchen and the shower was not ventilated. The only advantage is the basement bar, but neither of us drink alcohol. We were refunded, though.
