Good things: free wifi downstairs, free towel when I needed it Improvements: the vending machine takes money and refuses money (its hard to get what you want if anything), not enough locker storage in the rooms (2 small lockers for 4 beds), takes your license or other id (we are not all students) and it seems like if you have our credit card you should be able to feel secure in charging fees without holding our id (only hostile that has done this still).

Thank you for taking the time to write a review after your recent visit. I am pleased that you appreciated the free WiFi access in common areas at the hostel and the towels that we provide at no extra charge. As for your less positives comments: The vending machines are owned and looked after by Causeway Cafe, an independent business located on the ground floor: there are cafe staff there in the morning and early afternoon to deal with any issues you have with the machines. We are currently looking at, and hoping to improve, locker provision in rooms: in some rooms space is tight, but we offer free luggage storage at reception. On the HIHostels booking site it states "Government-issued photo ID is required to check in": the ID acts as a key/security deposit: please note that we don't have access to guest payment card details when they book on Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss your issues further. Our room was basic but it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. I honestly had one of the best night's sleeps of our entire trip! The adjoining café had good breakfast options at reasonable prices. We were glad to be close to the bus station (maybe a 10-15 minute walk).

Thank you for taking the time to write a review after your recent stay: one of the best night's sleep of your trip is great praise indeed: excellent! We replaced quite of a lot of our mattresses recently so it's good to read that they are having the desired result. The hostel is central: close to the bus and train station, and also to both City Hall and Queen's University - all just a short walk away. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday. David
