Some of the staff cannot speak english wich I would expect for working in a youth hostel. The breakfast is very poor, no fruits, no tea, no wholemeal bread possibilities offered. There is a restaurant in the hostel for dinner but the prices are extraordinary expensive for a youth hostel (buffet on one day for one person is 22 Euros). The view of the rooms is really nice, with open window you can hear the sea all the time. The furniture is very modern and new.

I had a lovely time there. It is a beautiful, new building and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant is top notch and i was not expecting this. I enjoyed the buffet and another lovely dinner. The staff helped me arrange a tour with Azore Dreams before i came. The tour was super. I found that the staff were very helpful and prompt in replying to my many inquiries before i arrived- which made my everything a lot easier.

The hostel is really new and the rooms are big. They offer different kinds of buffet for dinner and there is also a bar to take some snacks but the prices are not cheap as compared to other places around the island. There is a kitchen were you can cook your own food but is really small and there is no place for more than 4 or 5 people at the same time. Breakfast is really bad, not only because of the food but also because of the employees. We could not pay by credit card because they only accept portuguese credit cards.

On the first night people in the common outdoor area were very noisy until 12:00, the second evening/night there appeared to be a private party in the common outdoor area with loud music, also until at least 1100 in the evening (we had a plane to catch the next morning, a taxi would pick us up at 0500, so it became a very short night for us). The last morning when we woke up we found a cockroach in our room. Conclusion: we did not enjoy our stay in the hostel and would not recommend other people to visit this hostel.

This is an excellent hostel - the best I stayed at in the Azores and one of the best I've stayed at anywhere in the world. It is modern, spacious, clean and a relaxed place to stay. My 4 bed dorm had a beautiful view over the sea and I had it to my self for all 5 nights, which was an added bonus. Although Lagoa is slighyly less convenient for bus links than Ponta Delgada overall I was delighted that I'd booked this hostel for most of my stay on Sao Miguel.
