Staff was very helpful and friendly. It wasn't our favorite location but private room we stayed in was very large and spacious with large windows. The common area outside was a nice touch but we prefer more remote and secluded hostels.

I brought a large group to Akureyri, so I reserved the two summer houses, which I have used before. This allows us to have kitchen facilities all to ourselves (not that I mind sharing, but it is nice not to have to work around other groups. The grill on the deck was very handy, and was ready to use when we arrived. We also enjoyed using the hot pot. I'm not sure if the TV/DVD player worked (the students were unable to get it to function), but it was hardly necessary.

Really nice staff at the reception, she booked for us our trip to see the whales, and she took time to explain to us what to do in Akyureyri. In a small cottage, clean and nice, but too close to the main road

Layout of the building is not typical for a hostel. I got the idea that this hostel is a modified hotel. The typical cozy hostel feeling was not there. Personell not really present therefore notes with rules, warnings all over the building. First sentence of the information folder at the entrance was "we are not responsible for ...". We got the feeling that the hostel is not in the best neighbourship. Room was clean but smelled like chemicals. Very old bathrooms. Poor wifi reception.
