Backpackers and groups love the original HI Sucre, set in a renovated colonial style building, and offering an international atmosphere with a popular guest kitchen and common dining room; this is a fantastic base to explore the beautiful ‘white city’.
HI Sucre is in a convenient location, only 150m from the bus terminal or a short 12 minute walk into the city centre. The hostel has an Internet café, TV room, a lovely garden, and a BBQ. HI Sucre also offers a suite with a panoramic view of Sucre and a Jacuzzi suite!
Furthermore HI Sucre features a traveller's desk where guests can book hostels for their next destination and excursions to Potosi, Uyuni and many more. The hostel also provides Spanish language courses ranging from three days to six weeks in length and a certificate is provided upon completion. Classes can even continue after leaving the hostel via spanish-viva-online.com.
What travellers think...
I reserved by Internet and was charged $2.?? that was to be deducted from my bill. The HI people told me that they never get that money, so they did not deduct the $2.?? from my bill. The kitchen is woefully inadequate. I reserved a single room with shared bathroom, but when I arrived none was available. You need to upgrade the reservation system. As a replacement I was given a single room with bath at the same rate, but it was tiny and dark. Many volunteers living there, more of a volunteer residence than HI hostel.
