Shore Lodge is a comfortable 14-bed self catering facility situated in the grounds of Brodick Castle, Garden & Country Park, it is ideally positioned for access to the shore, Goatfell and Brodick village. Arran has a wealth of outdoor activities, be it walking the hills, mountain biking the trails, kayaking around the coast or experiencing many of the other island attractions. Accommodation comprises: Sitting room with wood-burning stove, fully equipped kitchen and dining room. Drying room, six WCs with wash basins and six showers. Four bedrooms with bunk beds - two two-bedded, one four-bedded and one six-bedded. The lodge is all on one level and also suitable for wheelchair access. We regret dogs are not permitted in the lodge or camping pods.
In order to have sole occupancy of the lodge it will be necessary to book and pay for all 14 beds as well as the camping pods (available from 1 May 2013).
There will be three camping pods available sleeping up to 4 people. Two larger sleeping two adults plus three children or three to four adults and 1 sleeping two adults plus 1 child. Cost (based on two adults sharing): £45 per night for large or £35 for smaller. The pod is designed to be comfortable - the special roofing material cuts down the noise of heavy rain and the window and lockable French doors are double glazed to reduce condensation and provide sound insulation. The wood used in the construction is a naturally 'warm' material but to provide extra warmth we have installed sheep's wool insulation inside the walls while a special foil layer under the roof helps keep summer temperatures in check. There is a small, high level window in the back walls, this not only provides light but will help keep the living space ventilated and aid 'through draft' on hot summer days.
The pods are available to book online or if you require any additional information, please contact NTS on 0844 493 2108 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
What travellers think
Shore Lodge is un-manned but the warden lives next door. Situated one and a half miles from Brodick in the Castle gardens. Walk along beach path or catch bus 4 times daily. Kitchen works OK and you can light the wood stove in lounge. Beds are clean and warm. There is a laundry. No recycling bins but the building has low carbon print. Bus goes right around the island and you can buy a day ticket.

Great place to stay, I'd advise you to take a duvet, pillows and possibly a blow up mattress, other than that the facilities are good and it's not too far away from the main drag.
